Sg. Klah Hot
Spring Park
- Natural
hot springs are a
common occurrence
in Peninsular Malaysia.
This phenomenon
-
occurs when
water that seeps into
the Earth is heated
by magma; molten rock
located
-
beneath
the surface of the
Earth. The Earth’s
pressure then causes
the water to again
rise
-
above the surface,
forming a natural
hot spring.
Gua Tempurung
/ Limestone Hill
-
Believed
to have existed since
8000 B.C., Gua Tempurung
is probably the largest
natural
-
limestone
cave in Malaysia.
Situated about 24
kilometers from lpoh,
the cave stretches
for
-
1.5 kilometers
and is made up of
five huge domes whose
ceilings resemble
coconut shells.
Kellie's Castle
-
About
30 minutes drive from
Ipoh, near Batu Gajah,
stands the ruins of
Kellie's Castle. It
- belonged
to William Kellie
Smith, an English
rubber tycoon during
the late 19th century.
The -
castle
was never completed
as Smith left for
Scotland in the midst
of its construction,
and
- never
returned.
Lang Hill
( Recreational Park
)
-
Perak
exploring the less
known Cermin Lake.
Known as Tasik Cermin
locally, the lake
is
-
surrounded
by hills. The water
is so calm, that it
produce a mirror image.
Perak Thong
Cave
-
Within
the huge limestone
caves of Gunung Tasek,
6 km to the north
of lpoh, nestles the
- Perak
Tong temple. Built
in 1926 by a Buddhist
priest from China,
the temple houses
over
-
40
Buddha. Beyond the
main altar, a passage
leads into the cave's
interior. After a
steep
-
climb
of
385 steps, the cave
opens again to reveal
a wonderful view of
the surrounding
- countryside.
